Richard Kalusha is a man of immense creativity and boundless curiosity, always striving for success. His belief in creating opportunities for others has been a guiding principle throughout his life.
Born on October 2, 1992, in Nchelenge district of Luapula Province, Zambia, Kalusha’s early years were spent in the small village of Kaseka, where he lived with his mother and father.
Life in Kaseka was far from easy; it was a constant struggle, devoid of luxuries and filled with challenges.
In 2000, Kalusha began his educational journey at Nchelenge Primary School. His education was not for the faint-hearted; it demanded strength and resilience. He often went to school barefoot, carrying only a single book, a testament to his determination and perseverance.
Despite these hardships, Kalusha’s resolve never wavered. In 2008, he sat for his Grade 7 examinations and progressed to Grade 8 in 2009. By 2011, he had completed Grade 9 and moved on to Grade 10 in 2012. His brothers began to provide some financial support, easing his burden slightly.
In 2014, Kalusha graduated from secondary school with a school certificate. After secondary school, he and his brothers decided to build a modern house for their parents. By the end of 2015, they completed the house project. Kalusha then received an invitation to stay with his brothers in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, to further his education.
In 2017, Kalusha enrolled in the Natural Resources Development College, where he studied agribusiness management. He graduated in 2020, and together with his brother, ventured into poultry farming. This new endeavor marked the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey.
In 2022, Kalusha secured employment as a loan officer and was posted to Choma district in the Southern Province of Zambia. However, his entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to make a bold decision. In 2024, he terminated his job contract and, together with a colleague, decided to open a financial institution.
By the end of 2024, their hard work and dedication had paid off, and they successfully established their company.
Kalusha’s journey is a powerful reminder that with creativity, curiosity, and a relentless pursuit of success, one can overcome even the most daunting challenges and create opportunities not just for oneself, but for others as well.
