Luyanda Danca epitomises the essence of a dedicated and driven journalist, propelled by a strong sense of morality and an unyielding determination to excel. Luyanda completed his Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the esteemed Durban University of Technology from 2021 to 2023. His academic journey laid a robust foundation for his professional career, including his work on VumaFM's Sunday show, "Mega Grace on Sunday," alongside esteemed host Phumlani Nkwanyana. His commitment and expertise during his five-month tenure at VumaFM underscored his innate talent and passion for the media industry.
In a testament to his global perspective and thirst for knowledge, Luyanda embarked on a transformative exchange program at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, sponsored by the prestigious Erasmus+ program of the European Union. This enriching experience broadened his horizons and honed his skills, further fueling his aspirations in journalism.
Building on his academic journey, Luyanda completed his BA Honours Degree in Journalism in 2024. Additionally, he freelanced at ReCreate SA, contributing to the International Conference 2025: Copyright and the Public Interest. This experience helped further shape his understanding of the intersection between law, media, and public discourse.
Currently, Luyanda is a Masters Candidate at the Department of English at the University of Johannesburg. He continues his academic journey with an insatiable curiosity and a deep-seated commitment to excellence in media studies. Alongside his studies, Luyanda is also tutoring English, further expanding his expertise and engagement with the academic community.
His involvement behind the scenes of the esteemed National Television show, "The Big Debate," exemplifies his dedication to meaningful discourse and impactful storytelling. Broadcasting live on SABC3 and SABC News every Thursday for three months from May to July, Luyanda's contributions to the show reflect his unwavering dedication to the craft of journalism and his relentless pursuit of truth and justice.
