Mlondi Magubane was born in Pimville, Soweto. He describes himself as a visual practitioner. He studied photography at the Market Photo Workshop in 2019, Film&Television at Revolution Media Academy in 2022. He currently lives in Johannesburg. He has collaborated with artists Mduduzi Ncube and Kunle Ayo. Magubane's interests are environmental portraiture, landscapes and studio product shots. Most of his work focuses on subcultures and indigenous knowledge. In 2021 he photographed crafts for the Dubai Craft Show. He is a resident of Occupying The Gallery and has been part of group exhibitions that include, Bazobuya (2023) curated by Lawrence Lemaona at Keys Art Mile, Johannesburg, (Le)-Lapha (2023) curated by Mary Sibande, at SMAC Gallery, Johannesburg, Bazobuya (2024) curated by Lawence Lemaona, at the KZNSA Gallery in Durban, and RMB Latitudes Art Fair (2024), Johannesburg.
