bio

Ever since I was a child, I loved the power storytelling held for me as a listener mainly. My grandma used to tell many tales before smartphones were a thing? and that helped me shape the characters she narrated, in my mind. I could see them move and perform the actions she described, lo and behold, I was already practising my creative freedom, unbeknown to me. The funny thing is I never thought I could pursue a career around storytelling so that became my hobby. I studied International Marketing in University because I loved being able to provide a product or service of relevance to diverse communities. It was during my internship year, that my love for storytelling burst through the layers I had secretly hidden it. Working for a radio station literally teleported me back to my grandma's storytelling and like a old habit that refuses to die, I was yet again, shaping visuals from the audio. After my internship one thing was very clear, I needed to know more about Television! I graduated and sought for an opportunity to join myself to a production house so that I could learn the technicality that went into telling visual stories. My former boss, who had just started his own venture, gave me that first chance. I joined as a Production Assistant and before long I was managing the office and the calendar and tasks. It was fun, yet I wanted more. The opportunity came when I was excited for the release of Black Panther and I literally wanted to share the excitement with ordinary fans like me. But no one was really documenting what and how the fans felt, it was all about the actual actors and that frustrated me. From that, my YouTube show; The Reel was formed. I was my way of bridging the gap and finding out how fans feel before and after they experience an event, from cinema to concerts, you name it! I can say that experience really made me see that, when it comes to producing something you have to be 1. EXTREMELY PASSIONATE 2. DETERMINED NOMATTER WHAT GOES WRONG 3. SEE IT THROUGH 4. KEEP GETTING BETTER. One would think, I would automatically jump when Multichoice Talent Factory launched and Zimbabwe was part of the selected countries. I was a bit skeptical as to whether I would get it, but my little sis urged me to apply and I did so at the 11th hour. As The Lord would have it, I was accepted and underwent intensive training with 19 other unique, curious and daring creatives. Now that I have graduated, I can say I really learnt a lot into what makes TV something communities unite around and at the same time, I'm soo eager to work and collaborate with those with even more and less experience than I have. Being an Independent Producer or Filmmaker is quite the journey, and I am learning to share my experience and grow with others. Currently I am in development for a couple of stories and I am now a strong believer in doing due diligence before anything hits the screens so whatch this space, you will be seeing something I am definitely a part of soon. Below is my YouTube channel link where you can find my earlier work, I am currently rebranding and will be posting new content soon!
