bio

I'm a South African chemical engineer, turned journalist, turned filmmaker. I love cinema as a medium and wholeheartedly believe that it is impactful, transformative and necessary. Cinema to me is an amalgamation of truths I couldn’t articulate as a scientist and a trying equation I’m yet to  master as an artist. Originally, I studied chemical engineering, but the questions I was interested in, I found to be more metaphysical and performatory in nature. Film is a complex artform with depth, gray areas and blurring lines - it changes and challenges constantly. Having evolved from a person in the field of engineering to visual arts, I’m intrigued by visual representation of subjective truth - whether that derives from the imagination or reality - it is the intersection of fiction and non-fiction that validates the lives we lead, the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and the identities we choose to embody.
