Bubele Monakali from Pietermaritzburg is shadowing the Multichoice Talent Factory South Africa (MTFza) on the set of Areyeng Jozi!
What made you decide to apply for the MultiChoice Talent Factory program, and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
I have always been passionate about filmmaking and television production, and I believe that the MultiChoice Talent Factory program can help me take my career to the next level. Through the program, I hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of the industry, learn from experienced professionals, and acquire the necessary skills to create high-quality content.
What skills and qualities do you possess that you think will make you a strong candidate for the program?
I possess strong communication and collaboration skills, which I believe are essential in the industry. I am also highly motivated and willing to put in the hard work necessary to achieve my goals. Additionally, I have some experience in the industry, which has allowed me to develop a basic understanding of the production process.
Can you tell us about a project that you have worked on in the past that you are particularly proud of, and what your role was in the project?
I recently shadowed the current MTFza cohort while they were shooting a short film called 'Areyeng Jozi'. This was by far my career highlight thus far. I am excited about the film, and I hope it is well-received at a local film festival, or a SAFTA maybe? That is how happy we all are with the film.
How do you plan to use the skills and knowledge you gain from the program to further your career in the film and television industry?
I plan to use the skills and knowledge I gain from the program to further my career in the film and television industry. Specifically, I hope to develop my skills in areas such as directing.
What do you think sets you apart from other applicants, and why should you be chosen for the program?
What sets me apart from other applicants is my passion for the industry, my strong work ethic, and my willingness to learn and grow as a filmmaker. I am highly motivated to succeed, and I believe that the program can provide me with the tools and resources necessary to achieve my goals.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the film and television industry in Africa, and how do you think the MultiChoice Talent Factory program can address this challenge?
Opportunities! I believe that the MultiChoice Talent Factory program can address this challenge as it continuously exposes its interns to an industry that is seemingly difficult to infiltrate.
What are your long-term career goals in the industry, and how do you plan to achieve them?
My long-term career goals in the industry are to establish myself as a respected director. By seeking out new opportunities to work on a variety of projects.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering applying for the MultiChoice Talent Factory program?
My advice to someone who is considering applying for the MultiChoice Talent Factory program is to be passionate about the industry and to have a clear idea of what they hope to achieve through the program. In addition, with the brief time that I have spent with the current cohort, I realised that it is also important to be willing to work hard and to be open to learning from experienced professionals.
