bio
Tebogo Kobo is a visionary South African theatre-maker, writer, and performer whose work fearlessly interrogates power, identity, and the politics of being. A Laude graduate with a Diploma in Performing Arts (Theatre Arts) from the Tshwane University of Technology, she is currently pursuing her Advanced Diploma, continuing to refine her artistic voice and leadership within the creative sector.
As the writer and creator of The After Effect, a powerful dystopian stage production set in a future South Africa, Tebogo has established herself as a bold storyteller unafraid to blend political critique with poetic imagination. Her writing is known for its emotional depth, social relevance, and ability to provoke dialogue about systems of control, freedom, and Black consciousness.
Beyond her work as a playwright, Tebogo is a dedicated performer, director, and creative collaborator, committed to using theatre as a mirror to society and a tool for transformation. Her artistry celebrates resilience, reclaims narrative space for Black women, and insists that storytelling remains one of the most revolutionary acts of our time.
Tebogo Kobo represents the new generation of South African storytellers audacious, intelligent, and unapologetically rooted in purpose.
