bio
My name is Selina M Moyo, female artist based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. I have been in the arts industry for 9 years and in 2016 decided to venture into filmmaking full time. I am a self-taught filmmaker. I have worked in the arts doing varying roles from programming of live performance events like theatre, poetry and music to film production. My abilities include script development, production management, art direction, continuity, grip, props and costume management. I’m keen on using creative expression, particularly film to conscientise people about issues which affect them. I chose film as a medium because embraces new media and technology which allows it to reach wider audiences. It has the potential to reach the masses and influence dialogue about critical issues. My belief is that film can impact the viewer’s lives in different ways and at different levels. Being a filmmaker gives me the power to make a difference in the community in which operate and even globally. Film has the power to motivate change socially, economically, and politically because it often carries emotional touchpoint. It makes people reflect on their societies’ conditions and influences them to take the right action.
