I am an internationally respected independent film & event producer and the Founder and CEO of Screen Nation Media a full service, event, film, television, and content production & marketing company with offices in Lagos, Accra, London, and Los Angeles.

Screen Nation owns the rights to three self-founded and produced media awards platforms and has produced 4 award-winning feature films in Nigeria that have all been distributed at film festivals, theatrically, on TV and online around the world and many can be seen on Netflix.

Screen Nation has also been responsible for hosting some of the biggest movie premieres in Nigeria, Ghana and the UK. Next year Screen Nation expects to launch Screen Nation Africa which is designed to create media related tourism projects in emerging international film media markets.

Koblah Thompson MBE, the son of one of the UK’s first African barristers, resides in Lagos, London, and Uyo via Accra, Ghana and is a graduate of Film & TV Production Techniques, Arts and Media.

His 30+ years’ experience in the international film & TV industry includes 3 years as an editor before commencing a career as a Film Producer with a commitment to new drama by black writers and directors.

He has produced many multiple award-winning narrative films in Europe, Africa, and the USA, with a number gaining long-term distribution and has worked in producing on important black British dramas & TV magazine shows.

In 1996 Charles helped found Off the Grove, London’s first ever live screenplay reading event, a forerunner to the BFI’s highly rated Script Factory. Between 1999 -2002 Charles co-founded and served as Festival Director for one of Europe’s premier black film showcases the annual bfm International Film Festival.

In 2003 he created the Screen Nation Film & TV Awards (aka ‘the Black Bafta’s’) and takes the brand to Africa very soon. He is currently developing screen nation into an innovative web-based media rights company. Future plans include a series of heritage events recognizing the contribution black British film & TV practitioners have made to the UK industries since the early 1900s.

His commitment to black British filmmaking has seen him develop local training and screening programs across the UK. He consults and works as Exec Producer with new creative talent gives talks and has put several feature/TV/online projects into development & production, including screennation.tv a global entertainment show featuring the best of the black Hollywood, European & African media scenes.
