Born in Chipata and based in Lusaka, actor, TV/radio host and writer Edward Sakala, whose nickname is Edward Kiss, is passionate about African stories and the diversity of cultures across the continent.

Hoping to further his passion in filmmaking, 24-year-old Edward, who graduated with a diploma from Evelyn Hone College, says he would like to develop the African narrative using film. “I strongly believe that Africa can be globally competitive by the nurturing of creativity and innovation,” he says. Dedicated to pan-Africanism, Edward hopes that the skills he gains at MTF will afford him the opportunity to one day empower filmmakers by providing them with a platform to create, network and promote a pan-African creative industry.

On contemplating the future of film and television in Africa, Edward says, “I see a vibrant creative industry that will contribute to and be the driving force of Africa’s GDP.”
