Harare-born and Bulawayo-based Nelson Madzima completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and Media Studies at Zimbabwe’s National University of Science and Technology and is gearing up for a future in filmmaking.

The 23-year-old creative is excited to be part of MTF’s southern Africa academy, and hopes to become a world-renowned editor, working with international film studios to tell African stories. Committed to shifting the world’s idea of Africa and telling African stories authentically, when asked what he could contribute to the filmic landscape of Africa, Nelson says, “I can add a distinct flare to visual content whilst effectively communicating a story in an artistic way. I like working in an unorthodox manner, shying away from the norm and that gives me an edge over my peers.”
