WELCOME TO THE KENYA ACADEMY
East Africa is a hub of great African stories, yet to be told. The Academy in Kenya comprises of 11 Kenyans, 4 Ugandans, 4 Tanzanians and 1 Ethiopian students, who are a true representation of raw talent, enthusiasm and passion for film. The objective is to immerse students in a positive risk-free learning cradle where they sharpen their technical skills, enhance professionalism and business skills and become responsible citizens of their countries.
East Africa believes that with the opening of the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy, we are on the edge of a new dawn in Africa’s storytelling landscape. We hope to keep the tradition of African storytelling alive. Africans are rooted in oral cultures
and traditions; therefore, they have admired good stories and storytellers. It is this African culture that we seek to embed and mainstream with this young generation.The MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy in Kenya is a game-changer in Africa’s film and television landscape. Not only is it a wholly African initiative, but its focus on opportunities for young, emerging and passionate filmmakers is truly inspiring! The Academy and by extension the young talent being nurtured, is a testament to what we can do working together…the old African adage comes to mind as it reminds us.
