Jackson Kang'ethe (born 1994) is a Kenyan cinematographer best known for his collaboration with directors such as Nick Redding, Ahmed Farah and Dr. Zippy Okoth. Jackson graduated with honors with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Film and Theatre Arts from Kenyatta university. He is a recipient of the Best Cinematographer Awards from the 48-hour film project for his role in the film Hypnagogia. Jackson's career as a cinematographer has encompassed narrative features, shorts, documentaries, music videos and commercials.
Jackson worked as a lighting cameraman at KU TV while still in school. After graduating, Jackson found work as a 1st camera assistant, helping in the production of projects for 7 years. Some of his earlier projects included Lusala and Bufis.He also worked as a focus puller on the films Igiza and Ayaanle. Jackson is best known for his role as a cinematographer in Arday, Uamuzi, Midlife crisis, and Kanairo. Additionally, he has worked on numerous documentaries including 42.195, Chasing the Rains, Microsoft Game of Runners Show, and Minecraft Mangroove-making an impact. He has also collaborated on projects for Channel 4 Documentaries, CNN heroes, CNN sports, and CGTN.
Jackson is often cited as a great cinematographer owing to his deep passion for creative storytelling. From childhood, he has always been fascinated by the art of filmmaking. His technical and creative prowess is driven by the need to turn mundane situations into magical moments that leave a lasting impact on the audience.
