NYFA 2020 Series with Brett Leonard & Edward Button

The 20/20 Series is a pop-up event that takes us into the homes, hubs and workspaces of an array of dynamic creative visionaries to allow for relaxed, engaging conversations on craft, creation and artistic vision.

This series is created by Liz Hinlein and presented by the New York Film Academy. Each conversation with a creative visionary features 20 minutes of discussion with a moderator and a 20-minute Q&A from YOU, the audience.

Brett Leonard has been at the forefront of the digital media revolution - whether it be as Director/ Writer of the groundbreaking cult-classic film Lawnmower Man, which introduced the concept of Virtual Reality to popular culture - or being the first to pioneer modern stereoscopic techniques and photo-realistic CGI in his hit IMAX 3D film T-Rex - Brett’s work as a visionary Director/Producer/Futurist has always pushed the edge of innovation in the entertainment industry, and continues to do so with a project slate at his company Studio Lightship, dedicated to defining a process and platform for truly interactive narrative VX StoryWorlds for the emerging era of Immersive Entertainment. Brett is currently finishing two feature film projects he has directed- Hollywood Rooftop, the first film to be shot in both 360VR and traditional cinema - and Triumph, starring Academy Award Nominee Terrence Howard, star of hit television series Empire, and RJ Mitte, star of Breaking Bad. Both films will be released in 2020. Brett is also slated to direct Dark Star, a Sci-Fi thriller written and produced by Sean Stone, which will also be created in both traditional cinema and Virtual Reality.

Edward Button is an award winning Director of Photography and Director. He has shot around the globe for brands like Gillette, Care International, Western Union, Sony/BMG and has shot feature films for directors such as Shari Springer Berman, Robert Pulcini, Doug Liman, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Trish Dalton. Edward started his career working in the camera department for Emmanuel Lubezki ASC for films by the Cohen Brothers and Terrence Malick. Currently, Edward has been working extensively in Virtual Reality having served as Director of Photography and Producer on Doug Liman's cinematic VR series Invisible and Brett Leonards cinematic VR Series Hollywood Rooftop. Edward's work has been screened at The Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions, The Sundance Film Festival, and the Brasov International Film Festival (where he won the ‘Best Cinematography’ award). Edward has spoken at conferences such as SXSW, Digital Hollywood, VR Fest, and VRTO on VR/XR and the future of filmed entertainment.
